Jimmy Ray (Sr.) Harris

Jimmy Ray Harris, Sr. was called home by our Heavenly Father on Monday, November 13, 2017. Visitation will be Thursday, November 16 from 12 noon to 2:00 pm followed by funeral services at 2:00 at Walker Chapel Funeral Home located at 1200 Ellard Road Fultondale, AL. Rev. Howard LeFevor and Rev. Joel Harris (Jimmy's brother) will be officiating. Burial will be in the Walker Chapel Cemetery.
Jimmy was born April 9, 1944 in Nauvoo, AL to Joel E. and Ada Willodene (Alexander) Harris. On May 10, 1963, he married the former Jacklyn Louise McElroy. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from Alabama Power Company. Over the past several years, Jimmy dealt with a number of physical ailments which weakened his body month after month. His loving and caring wife was by his side the entire time. The family will be eternally grateful for Jackie who stood by her man in sickness and health; richer and poorer; for better for worse; till death did them part.
He was an avid reader and enjoyed time with his family, his dog Rex, and watching Alabama Football. There are few fans who could enjoy BAMA play better than Jimmy..."ROLL TIDE!!!"
     Jimmy is survived by his wife Jackie, their two sons Jimmy Jr. (wife Joyce) and Brian Philip; and older brother James Joel Harris (wife Mary), along with a host of extended family of Harris's and Alexanders. He will be missed, but we look forward to being with him in a Better time and a more beautiful place.
