David Jesse Smith

David Jesse Smith, age 69, of Fultondale, AL died peacefully in his sleep on November 13, 2017.  Mr. Smith was a natïve of Moultrie, GA.  He was retired from the United States Army and served proudly in Vietnam.    Mr. Smith loved hunting with his boy’s and fishing when he could.  His favorite place to eat was Jack’s and he enjoyed road trips.  For several years, David coached at the Fultondale Ballpark.  Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Stephen Smith and Lola Bell Taylor Smith and a grandson, Zachary Smith.  He is survived by his loving wife, Ricki Smith; two sons, William (Tiffany) Smith and Todd (Traci) Smith; daughter, Kerri Hensley and ten grandchildren.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 5-7PM at Walker Chapel Funeral Home.  Funeral services will military honors will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.  The family request that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758516, Topeka, KS or woundedwarriorproject.org  Walker Chapel Funeral Home, Fultondale, AL directing.
