Verna Danita Garrett

Verna Danita Garrett, 63, of Birmingham, Alabama, passed away on November 29, 2022,

in Columbus, Ohio. She was a 1979 graduate of Lawson State Junior College, a 1977

graduate of Minor High School, and a retiree from AT&T, Incorporated. Verna is the

daughter of the late Eugene Garrett, Sr., and Annie Boykin Garrett.

Survivors include - brothers, George Edward Garrett (BeAnn), Freddie Leon Garrett

(Josephine); sister, Rhonda Rene Garrett Allen; nephews, Henderson Alexander (Mary

Hosley), Redford, Michigan, Marcus Cargill of Detroit, Michigan, G’Juan E. Garrett,

Brandon D. Lewis of Birmingham, Alabama; nieces, La’Rhonda Renee Garrett

Wheelington (Chadd) of St. Louis, Missouri, Tamera Garrett Jones (Quincey) of Houston,

Texas, Dr. Kristen Allen Watts (Deaushay) of Bloomington, Indiana and Kaitlin Allen

Walden (Ross) of Hoover, Alabama; great-nephews, Aaron Taylor (Essence) and

Alexander Harvey of St. Louis, Missouri, Brandon Coleman, Julian Paul Watts of

Bloomington, Indiana; great-nieces, Chrishelle Nicole Alexander and Breanna Renae

Alexander of Detroit, Michigan, Ajanae Deanna Alexander of Oak Park, Michigan, Meagan

Jones of Houston, Texas; aunt, Mabel Boykin of Mint Hill, North Carolina; and a host of other

nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Funeral service will be

Saturday, December 10, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Walker Chapel Funeral Home

with burial in the adjoining cemetery. Reverend Edwin Burts, officiating.
