Steve Maddox, age 66 of Adamsville, passed away on Monday September 14, 2020. He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Maddox, and work family and employer, Joe and Helen Money. He was an active member of Shady Grove Freewill Baptist Church where he especially enjoyed the parking lot services during the pandemic. A loyal and dedicated employee of Joe Money Machinery for 42 years, the Money family said of Steve “If we had called him to go to California and help fight the wildfires, he would have called back and said he was on the way.” Steve enjoyed giving back to the community by serving as a member of both the Shady Grove and Maytown Fire Departments as well as doing a lot of work for Fultondale Toys for Tots.
Steve is survived by his mother, Joyce Maddox; brothers, Kenneth Maddox, Stephen Maddox, and Lee May; and longtime friends, Charles and Gay Money, Jamie Gilbert, and Teresa Hubbard.
Services to celebrate the life of Steve Maddox will be held on Friday September 18, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from the chapel of Walker Chapel Funeral Home with Rev. Wade Peoples officiating. Interment will follow at Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends and family on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements are by Walker Chapel Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 205-849-5000, Fultondale.
