Sanford Leroy Herron, Jr.

Sanford Leroy Herron, Jr. affectionately known by many as "Dooner" went to be with the Lord on Monday, August 8, 2022 at age 50. He is survived by his wife, Leigh Byram Herron; one daughter, Rebecca
Herron Thomas (Josh); stepdaughter, Emily King (Alex); stepson, Preston Rhoades (Elliana); grandson,
Jake Thomas; mother, Linda Tolbert; brother, Virgil Herron; sister, Melissa Welch (Mike); and a host of
nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends. Sanford was preceded in death by his father,
Sanford Leroy Herron, Sr. and grandparents, Virgil & Ida Herron and Wallace & Ernesteene Harwood
Sr. Sanford never met a stranger. He was a prankster and had the biggest heart. He loved with his
whole heart and was not afraid to show it. He would tell his Mother he loved her and she was beautiful often. He referred to Leigh as his "queen" and he adored her. He loved his whole family
fiercely. His favorite hobby was fishing. He will be missed everyday by those who loved him. Visitation
will be Friday, August 12, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with the funeral service to follow at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of Walker Chapel Funeral Home.
