August 9, 1946 - November 29, 2014 Mr. Roger C. Hallmark, 68, died Saturday, November 29, 2014, following a brave battle with cancer. Mr. Hallmark was a very talented, self-taught musician and recording artist who was well known in the Birmingham area. He is perhaps best known for his popular song "Bear," a tribute to Bear Bryant. He was also a truck driver for AAA Cooper Transportation for over twenty years. He was a loving, devoted family man who leaves behind his wife of 48 years, Betty (Carter) Hallmark; daughters, April (Steven) Nichols and Callie (Sammy) Stapler; son, Roger Matthew (Samantha) Hallmark; brother, Ray (Sherry) Hallmark; grandchildren, Savannah, Rachael, Daphne, Jasper, Dalton, Sophie, Emma, Lily, Lucas, and Maggie; great-grandchildren, Lainey and Amelia; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Zola Hallmark; father, Clyde Hallmark; and sister, Kathy Hallmark. Visitation will be held from 5:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Walker Chapel Memorial. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Walker Chapel Memorial, with burial to follow at Flat Rock Methodist Church in Cullman. William Sasser officiating.
