Martha Nell McDonald

Martha McDonald went to her Savior on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at age 76.  She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Gary McDonald; three children, Denise Rutledge (Joe), Michael McDonald (Jessica), and Daniel McDonald (Kala); five grandchildren, Laura, Carter, Andrew, Noah, and Maci; two great grandchildren, Serenity and Rose; two brothers, James Payne and David Payne (Kim); two sisters, Joan Vines and Cathy Payne; and many nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.  Martha was preceded in death by her parents, Oby and Vernell Payne; one brother, Gary Payne and one sister, Linda McGee. She worked for many years in the banking industry.  She later worked as Daycare Assistant Director for Brookwood Baptist Church and most recently church secretary with Hillview Baptist Church.  She was as a caretaker and affectionately known as “Nanny” to so many.  Martha was a member of Republic Baptist Church.  Visitation will be Saturday, September 18, 2021 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Walker Chapel Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Guy Moore officiating.  Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in Corner, AL.  In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Republic Baptist Church, C/O Bill Amason, 1664 Brackett Loop Rd, Mt. Olive, AL 35117.
