Luther T. Donaldson, Sr.

Luther T. Donaldson, Sr., age 86 of Morris, passed away on Saturday July 18, 2020.  He was born on June 1, 1934 in Morris to the late Luther L. and Myrtle Donaldson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 65 years, Alpha “Jean” Donaldson.  Mr. Donaldson was a U.S. Navy veteran.  He was a proud Shriner, being past director of the Go-Kart Unit, a Scottish Rite Master Mason he was Past Master of Gardendale Lodge # 907 F.&A.M and Past Worthy Patron of Gardendale Eastern Star Lodge # 531. 

Mr. Donaldson is survived by 2 daughters, Diann Hays (Sonny) and Gina Osbourn; son, Luther “Jay” Donaldson; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild on the way; and by his sister, Reba Doris Poling.  He is also survived by a host of extended family and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday July 22, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Walker Chapel Funeral Home with Dr. Dan Nichols officiating.  The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.  Mr. Donaldson will be laid to rest at Glennwood Cemetery in Morris.  Arrangements are by Walker Chapel Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 205-849-5000, Fultondale.
