Kelly McNiel Obituary

Kelly Ellis McNiel was born on February 21, 1966 in Harlan, KY to Larry and Rhonda Ellis. She was so anxious to come into this world, she was almost born in the car!  From the time she was young, she had an infectious smile and was full of life. Kelly graduated from Harlan High School in 1984, and she had many accomplishments. She was voted by her classmates as “best looking”, “most friendly”, and “prom queen.” Kelly was vice-president of the Musettes and was chosen as the Mountain Laurel Princess Representative for Harlan High School. She graduated from Lincoln Memorial University in 1990 with a degree in Elementary education. Soon after, Kelly married Roy McNiel, and after 5 miscarriages, she had two miracles, Connor & Colby, her greatest blessings!! Kelly spent the majority of her career as a pre-school teacher at Sunshine School in Harlan KY, Gardendale First Baptist Pre-School, and finished her career at Children’s Hospital in Birmingham AL, as an Early Childhood Educator, with the Oncology, Hematology and Dialysis departments helping children who had cancer and other health problems, keep up with their school work. Kelly loved her family, her friends, and most of all her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!! Kelly will be greatly missed on this earth, but you will see her again if you love and serve King Jesus!

Kelly was preceded in death by her parents, Larry and Rhonda Ellis; her mother-in-law, Martha McNiel; her uncle, Mike Fisher; and her grandparents, Fred Sr. and Evelyn Ellis and Corman and Vivian Lanham.
