Julia Fay Hopper Jacks, of Gardendale, Alabama, left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at the age of 74.
A wife, loving mother, storyteller, poet & exceptional para educator and a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Doyle Jacks, Sr; her parents, Sam “Jug” and Nora Hopper; her sisters, Bobbie Wooten, Jeanette Cagle and Elizabeth Hopper; her brothers, Sam Hopper and Wallace Hopper.
She is survived by her three children, James Doyle Jacks, Jr of Alabaster (wife Pamela), Kelly Jacks Mullins of Pelham (husband Chris) and James Doyle Jacks III of Gardendale. grandchildren, Whitney Jacks, Joshua Jacks, Abrielle Mullins, Eden Mullins, Kailey Mullins and Dorian Jacks;
and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family.
Julia retired from the Jefferson County Board of Education. She impacted the lives of the students she worked with as they did her in the exceptional education department.
Julia (Judy) enjoyed collecting antique oil lamps and would often turn down all the lights, light her oil lamps and share family stories from another time and place. She was a true storyteller and now her stories will live on for generations just as she told them. She also enjoyed dancing, singing, writing poetry and cooking for family and friends. She was a longtime member of The Church of God.
A graveside service will be held at Moncrief Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 29, 2021.
