James Belcher Obituary

James Lester Belcher, Jr. went home to be with the Lord and be reunited with Charlotte, the love of his life, on Thursday, July 14, 2022.  His is survived by one son, Jay Belcher (Lisa); five grandchildren, Justin Belcher (Amber), Kyle Chandler, Kyle Belcher (Megan), Malia Mize (Joseph) and Timberlynn Belcher; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Gilbert Belcher; and nieces, nephews and other extended family.  James was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Charlotte Belcher; his son, Jonathan Belcher; parents, Lester and Peggy Belcher; and brothers, Paul Belcher and John Belcher.  James was a member of Mount Olive First Baptist and also a member of McCarty Masonic Lodge.  He retired from Drummond Coal Company after 30 years of service. James was a 1959 graduate of Mortimer Jordan High School and then he proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Era.  He was an avid Alabama fan who loved his Crimson Tide.  He was beyond proud of his grandchildren.  His family will miss him everyday.  He kept them on their toes but they loved every minute of it.  Visitation will be Monday, July 18, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mount Olive First Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. with Tom Belcher presiding.  Burial will be at Odom Nail Cemetery (7686 Old Mt Olive Rd, 35071).
