Jack David Smith went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 3, 2025 at age 80.  He is survived by his loving wife, Virginia Smith; children: J David Smith (Lee Ann), Dana S Simpson (Steve), Michael Taylor (Christina), and Brooke Bartlett (Stephen); grandchildren: Justin Smith (Brooke), Kathryn Smith (Rafa), Taylor Simpson, Jordan Kennedy (Carson), Kaylee Fells (Hunter), Rylee Reagan (Brody), and Emylee Bartlett; great grandchildren: Cooper Fells, Steven Kennedy, and Tatum Reagan; siblings Charles B. Smth Jr. (Connie) and Allen Smith;  and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. Jack was preceded in death by his parents Charles B Smith and Dorothy H Smith and siblings Stephen Smith and Barbara S Mize (Bob).   Jack was a Georgia native growing up just south of Atlanta. He was the son of an FBI agent who coached Jack and his teammates to a pee-wee football state championship. Jack played football and baseball for Griffin high school where he pitched and his brother was the catcher and Jack hit a 400' home run in the state championship baseball game. Jack went on to play football at Morehead State University in Kentucky where he received all-American honors, was unanimously voted MVP of the Ohio Valley Conference, and inducted in the Morehead State Hall of Fame. Jack coached a few years of college football before moving on to a long career in the automotive sales industry where he owned and operated multiple dealerships.

Jack loved watching sports, playing golf, talking to former coaches and teammates, he loved all animals and was ready to adopt any stray dogs or cats that showed up at his home. Jack also loved any kind of sweet treats and spending time and making memories with his family especially the grands that always brought out his inner child. Jack and Virginia were active members of Hughes Memorial Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to their church in Jack's memory.  The family will receive friends from 11:15 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6, 2025 at Hughes Memorial Baptist Church with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Gardens
