Gordon Wayne Tumlin, age 77, beloved husband, father, pawpaw, & loyal friend, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 20, 2023.
Wayne was a resident of Lillian, Al. He was born on February 12, 1946, in Chelsea, AL. He proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1963 – 1969. He was a proud Vietnam War Vet who served two tours of duty. On October 23, 1965, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal for his service aboard the USS Calvert.
Wayne was known for his tremendous love and devotion to his family, his faith & trust in God, his generosity, his kind heart and his love of gospel music. He was adored by his wife, Elizabeth, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Wayne accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized in 1970. He was a gifted singer who was passionate about signing gospel music up until the day the Lord took him home. In his younger years, he was the lead singer for “The Joy Masters” and then with “The Harvesters” quartet for over 20 years. He loved traveling, camping, boating, supporting both his children and grandchildren in their numerous endeavors and sporting events, he was also a die-hard Alabama football fan.
He will be deeply missed by all that knew and loved him. He will forever live on in our hearts & our special memories.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Curtis & Louise Tumlin; two brothers, Lamar Tumlin & Mark Tumlin; and two sisters, Faye Tumlin & Sheila Tumlin Scott.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elizabeth; three daughters, Leslie Tumlin Morgan (John), Christy Tumlin Kiley, and Stephanie Tumlin Phillips (Craig); eight grandchildren, Gavin Haynes, John Dakota Morgan (Kyndall), Dalton Morgan, Madison Kiley Reynolds (Will), Anna Grace Morgan, Lauren Phillips, Emma Phillips, and Olivia Phillips; five great-grandchildren, Kamryn Morgan, Kennedy Morgan, Declan Morgan, Demi Morgan and Camden Reynolds; and nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Walker Chapel Funeral Home in Fultondale, 1200 Ellard Road, Fultondale, AL 35068 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
The Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at Walker Chapel Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens.
