Floyd Curtis Harper, 94, of Fultondale, passed away on August 31, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born October 19, 1928 and spent 48 years in the freight industry. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. and Emma C. Harper; his daughter, Patricia A. Sherer (Jerry); step-daughter, Sharon Sorenson; brother, William E. Harper; seven sisters, Edith Elkins, Edna Fowler, Elvis Harper, Emma Jean Mayfield, Minnie McDowell, Olean Harper and Rebecca Johnsey.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Kazuko Harper; son, Mark R. Harper (Traci), sister, Maureen Underwood; two stepsons, Jimmy N. McGowan (Nancy), Allen N. McGowan (Mary), nine grandchildren; five great grandchildren; fourteen great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held at Walker Chapel Funeral Home in Fultondale on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with services to follow at 12 noon. Burial will be immediately following in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family requests in lieu of flowers for donations to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, of which he was a passionate supporter.
