Eugene Jackson Arwood was born September 4, 1927 in Fultondale, AL. He passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at age 94. He retired from Hayes International Pemco Aeroplex after 38 years of service as Vice President of Military Operations. He was a 1943 Graduate of Jefferson County High School in Tarrant and went on to obtain a degree in Business Administration from Scranton Business College in Scranton, PA. Eugene served as a deacon at New Georgia Baptist Church. He was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars. He proudly served 3 years in the 7th Air Force South Pacific during WWII and 2 ½ years Korean War for a total of 5 ½ years war time. He was also a life member of Hewitt North Birmingham Masonic Lodge as well as a life member of Shriners Zamora Temple. Eugene was preceded in death by his mother, Lottie Gertrude Hood Arwood; daddy, James Alfred Arwood; brother, Huel Boston “H.B.” Arwood; brother, James Loyd “Sonny” Arwood; brother, George Roscoe Arwood; sister, Eithel Inez Hurst; sister, Olie Pauline Knight; daughter, Linda Marie Davis; son, Huell Wade Arwood; wife, Rita Carlos Arwood; and wife, Burle Jo Belvin Arwood. Eugene is survived by his son, Alan Arwood; grandchildren, Michelle, Art, Angel, Niressa, Jamie, Alan II, Marie, and Bryan; and many step grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren as well as other extended family and friends. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1, 2022 from 9:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at New Georgia Baptist Church with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to New Georgia Baptist Church.
