Douglas McArthur Moore

Douglas McArthur Moore, age 82, of Mt.Olive, AL passed away on July 20, 2025. He was born January 26,1943 to Dalton and Nellie Moore from Fayette, Alabama. Brother Doug was a graduate of Ensley High School, Brewer State Junior College in Fayette and New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

He was a devoted father and a loving pastor who surrendered to preach at 15. He pastored at Sand Springs Baptist Church in Fayette and Highland Baptist in Tishomingo, Mississippi. While attending seminary, he returned to his home church of Thomas Baptist in Birmingham and went on to pastor at Bethel Baptist in Pleasant Grove, over 26 years at First Baptist Church Mt.Olive and Walker's Chapel Baptist in Fultondale. He was truly a pastor to his flock and told everyone he could about his Lord and Savior. He was a soul winner and loved to share Jesus with anyone who was willing or sometimes not willing to listen.

He enjoyed spending time hunting and spending time with family and grandkids. He was preceded in death by wife of over 58 years, Jerrie; his parents, Dalton and Nellie Moore; and brother, James. He is survived by his children, June Liston (Joey), Dougie Moore, Jr (Marie) and Sherrie Roe (Brad). He is the grandfather of Brooke Mims (Wes), Joseph Liston (Christina), Douglas and Danilyn Moore, and Caleb, Joshua, and Sarah Roe and great-grandfather of Katelyn, Emilee, Benjamin, and Heather Mims and John and Patrick Liston. He is also survived by his sisters, Dot Shaddix, Linda Parsons, and Charlene Patton (Wayne) and a host of nieces and nephews. The family is confident that Bro. Doug has received his goal which is to be told "Well done, my good and faithful servant." We know he is with our Lord and Savior and is no longer suffering.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 26, 2025 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Mount Olive First Baptist Church.  The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 27, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary with burial to follow in Mount Olive Cemetery.
