Blanche Eleanor (Hamaker) Franklin

Funeral services for Mrs. Blanche Hamaker Franklin, age 89, of Fultondale, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, in the chapel of Walker Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m. until time of the service.

Mrs. Franklin passed away on Friday, May 1, 2026, at her residence.

Survivors include her sons, Charles Durden, Lester Durden (Nora), and Ronald Durden; stepchildren, Mark Franklin (Bonita) and Donna Duren (David); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, H.B. Franklin; daughters, Janice Singletary and Kathy Dunaway; stepdaughter, Lena Loftis; son, James Durden; grandson, Charles Dunaway; and sister, Brenda.

In her younger years, Blanche enjoyed playing softball in high school where she was a skilled pitcher. Later, she went to work at Carraway Hospital where she retired after many years of service. She enjoyed fishing with her husband, listening to oldies music, cooking, gardening, flowers, and being around her family and friends.
