Betty Joyce (Wills) Lanning

Betty Joyce Lanning, affectionately known as “Nanny” to many, passed away on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at age 77.  She is survived by three children, Jean Childers (Kenneth), DeWayne Lanning (Sandra) and Annette Wickert (Steve); grandchildren, Krissy Deerman (Chip), Stephanie Childers, Amy Goodwin (Wesley), Gina Early, Jason Childers (Kaylinn), and Jennifer Wickert; great grandchildren, Christian Deerman, Michael Goodwin, Kaylee Deerman, Lexi Early, Gabriel Goodwin, and Axel Deerman; one sister, Vera Jennings; one brother, Herman Wills (Kay); and a host of nieces, nephews, other extended family and friends.  Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Lanning; her parents, Horace & Gladys Wills; and two sisters, LouAnn Smith and Edna Swearengin.  She was a member of New Castle Methodist Church.  She was a loving Nanny who left everyone’s heart and belly full.  She made sure her family was taken care of.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2024 at Walker Chapel Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 with burial to follow in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens.
