Betty Maddox Armstrong, age 87, passed away peacefully on February 18, 2020. She was born on August 9, 1932 in Birmingham Alabama to parents, Robert Eugene Murphree and Annie McKinnon Murphree. She married John Edward Maddox in 1948 who preceded her in death in 1994. She later remarried Bill Armstrong who also passed away.
Betty was known for her cooking and baking and passing her recipes down 3 generations. She is loved and adored by her family and will be missed but remembered through the impact she had on her loved one’s lives. Betty the back-bone of her family and lasting impression on all of her family.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, John Edward Maddox and Bill Armstrong; her son, Edward; brothers, Billy Murphree and Barney Murphree.
She leaves behind her daughter, Janet Franks (Ralph); son, Mike Maddox (Susan); sister, Linda Motzi (John); brother, Phillip McKinnon (Sue); grandchildren, Leigh Ann Hope (Mike) and Colton Maddox; great-grandchildren, Lane Hope and Lily Hope. She leaves behind a large extended family of nieces and nephews. All she loved and touched deeply.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 22, 2020 at 3:30 p.m. from the chapel of Walker Chapel Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Interment will follow at Walker Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are by Walker Chapel Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 205-849-5000, Fultondale.
