Berta Nell Townsel

Berta Townsel passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023 at age 80.  She is survived by four daughters, Cindy Murphy, Bobbie Slatton (David), Vickie Snow, and Shannon Townsel; grandchildren, Amber Murphy, Brandi Townsel, William Townsel, Anthony Townsel, Joseph Slatton, Shiena Jones, Britney Lee, Bret Townsel, Aislyn Townsel, and Raelyn Townsel; 15 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; two brothers, James Bryant (Sue) and Joe Bryant; one sister, Margaret Howell (Steve) and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.  Berta was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Townsel; her son, Jimmy “Jimbo” Townsel; two sons-in-law, Steve Murphy and Thomas Foster; her parents, Otis & Lucille Bryant; and five siblings. She was a caretaker by nature and worked in nursing for over 40 years.  Her philosophy was “you don’t know what you can do until you try”.  She was an anchor for her family.  The loss they will feel without her will remind them everyday of the love they felt in her presence.  Visitation will be Wednesday, October 18, 2023, from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Walker Chapel Funeral Home with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens.
