Alice Payton Brunner, age 65, of Cullman, Alabama, passed away peacefully on October 20, 2025. She was born on March 13, 1960, in Chilton County, Alabama, to the late Robert and Alice Scott Payton.
Alice was a woman of strong character, deep compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband of 45 years, Rayford Brunner. Together, they shared a life built on love, laughter, and family.
She is survived by her loving children: Mark Armstrong Sr (Tracy), Jennifer Brunner, and Zack Brunner (Serena); and by the grandchildren she helped raise and adored, Allison and Kaylee Armstrong. She was also a proud grandmother to Corbin Armstrong, Austin Armstrong, Angel Armstrong, Jonathan Black, Mark Armstrong Jr., Tyler Black, and Ethan Armstrong and sister of Jimmy Duke.
Alice loved simple joys and quiet moments. She enjoyed Hallmark movies, relaxing days fishing, playing the slots at the casino, and thrift shopping for hidden treasures. She had a special place in her heart for her loyal chihuahua Tina and her beloved grand-dogs Camilla, Ajax, Lulu, Harley, Zoe and Cooper.
She cherished her family deeply and held close relationships with her special nieces Tammy Payton and Dana Jones. A heartfelt thank you goes to Marilyn Stone, her devoted friend of 50 years, and brother Jimmy Duke, for their love, friendship, and support throughout her life. The family also expresses sincere appreciation to Cullman Regional Hospital for the compassionate care given during her final days.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 24, 2025, at Walker Chapel Funeral Home in Fultondale, Alabama, with Alan Burnett officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow at Cluster Springs Cemetery in Gardendale, Alabama.
Serving as pallbearers will be Zack Brunner, Mark Armstrong Sr., Mark Armstrong Jr., Jimmy Duke, John Giles, Cody Payton, Jerry Payton, Buddy McCloud, and Ethan Armstrong.
Alice will be remembered for her loving heart, her loyalty to those she cared for, and her strength in the face of life’s challenges. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
