After winning his long battle with cancer, Shelton Dwain Waldrop, 17, of Fultondale, Alabama, was called to his heavenly home, while surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, February 18th, 2019. Shelton is survived by his mother, Robby Foster (James) and his father, Richard Waldrop; one brother, Luke Austin Wallace; two sisters: Kirstyn and Lyndsay Waldrop; grandparents; Debrah Lowrimore (Robin), Shelia Layton (James), and Rick Waldrop (June), as well as a host of extended family.
Shelton’s positive attitude, determined spirit, and unwavering courage and faith during his battle, created an extended family that reached far and wide, with relationships built with several local groups of first responders, including Leeds Fire Department, where he became an Explorer, Irondale, Trussville, Fultondale, Gardendale, as well as New York City Fire Departments, and many more.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Gardendale First Baptist Church South Campus, 940 Main Street, Gardendale, AL on Thursday, February 21st, 2019. Shelton will lie in state for at the church on Friday from 10am until the 12 p.m. funeral service time. Pastor Mike Cox officiating.
