Ronney Joe Adkins

Mr.Ronney Joe Adkins of Fultondale, AL went home peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior on March 8, 2018, surrounded by his family who considered him the most loving husband, best Daddy and greatest Pop ever.

Ronney enjoyed road trips, spending precious time with his sweetheart of 52 years, his children and grandchildren, walking at Black Creek Park and good seafood! He was known and loved by many friends.

He was a graduate of Tarrant High School and was a faithful and dedicated employee of the Alabama Power Company for 41 years and retired as a Control Center Operator in 2008. He was president of the IBEW Local 841 for two terms. Ronney went on to continue his career of electrical safety and assessment as an assessor with Storm Services from 2015-2018. He was a trustee and lifetime member of Coalburg Independent Baptist Church and a member of The Sons of The American Legion, Post 255.

Mr. Adkins was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Myrtle Adkins.

Ronney is survived by his wife, Janet, children; Ronald Adkins and Jon and Tracy Adkins-Abernathy, grandchildren; Rachel, Zachary and Megan Adkins; Grace and Catherine Abernathy, brothers and sisters; Jimmy and Lorna Adkins, Ronnie and Patsy Adkins Rhodes, Frankie Adkins, Harry and Shirley Adkins Kelley and many well loved nieces and nephews.

Our deepest gratitude to Dr. John Holloway, Dr. Khaleel Ashraf, Dr.Fred Dumas and the staff at  Brookwood Cancer Center, Alacare Home Health and Hospice for their excellent care, support, kindness and always being just a phone call away. We are forever changed by the love shown to our family. 

Funeral Services for Mr. Adkins will be Thursday, March 15th 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Walker Chapel Funeral Home. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens.
