Mable Christine Latta

Mable “Christine” Latta, age 93 of Fultondale, AL passed away peacefully on Friday, February 9, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.  A visitation for the gathering of family and friends to celebrate her life will be held on February 12, 2024 from 1:15 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Walker Chapel Funeral Home, Fultondale, AL with a short service to follow at 2:45 p.m. before a private burial in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens.

Christine grew up in Cullman, AL but she and J.B. made Fultondale their home for almost 60 years.  They were faithful members of Fultondale First Baptist where they made lifelong friends.  Christine spent her life taking care of and loving others with a sacrificial heart.  She exemplified such a kind spirit and loved everyone she met.  She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend and truly lived the life of a Proverbs 31 woman.  She was happiest when she could be outside planting or picking something or just raking leaves.  She always had the most impressive collection of canned goods displayed in her basement from where she had spent untold hours preparing and canning. Most of all, Christine loved her children, grandchildren and great grands.  They were her whole world and brought her so much joy.  

Christine was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James B. Latta; sister, Pauline Vaughn; and brothers, Fred White and James White.  She is survived by her daughters, Vickie Maise (James), Karen Abel (Paul), and Tammy Jones (Lanier); grandchildren, Daniel Abel (Heather), Josh Abel (Sarah), Alex Jones, and Addison Jones; and great grandchildren, Jax Abel and Lexi Abel.

The family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Moundville Health and Rehab for loving her and providing exceptional care and kindness and to Enhabit Hospice staff for the loving care they provided during her final days and making a difficult journey more bearable and peaceful.
