James Otto Farris

James Otto Farris passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024 at age 91.  He is survived by two children, Linda Farris and Jerry Farris; three grandchildren, Heath Gunnin, Felecia Wright Melton and Thomas Farris; four great grandchildren, Keyton Gunnin, Maizelyn Gunnin, Mason Rascoe, and Chloe Melton; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.  He is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Marie Farris; his daughter, Sherrill Wright; his parents, Harvey & Pearlie Farris; sisters, Donie, Betty Lou, Geneva, Barbara Faye; and brothers, Henry, Tommy Lee, Herschel, and Frankie .  James proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.  He retired from Bruno’s Supermarkets after over 20 years of service.  He loved Alabama football and he loved his family.  His grandchildren were the light of his life.  Mowing the grass was the highlight of his week.  A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. in Walker Chapel Memorial Gardens.  The family will be available an hour prior to the graveside in the funeral home to receive friends.
