Carolyn Wilson went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at age 77. She is survived by her husband of 45 years, David Wilson; four children, Brett Hollis (Emily), Candice Wilson, Regina Bartlett (Josh) and Ryan Wilson; nine grandchildren, Fawn, Malloreé, Kristen, Holly, Austin, Logan, Justin, Alysson, and Katie; six great grandchildren, Jocelyn, Natalie, Adalynn, Katherine, Callan and Mary Evelyn; two sisters, Glenda Quinn (Jeff) and Brenda Teague (Martin); and a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family and friends. Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, W.T. & Louise Smith and one brother, Tommy Smith. She retired from Regions Bank in the Collections Department. Before working at the bank, she taught kindergarten at Center Point Freewill Baptist Church where she was a member for over 30 years. She taught her youngest daughter at the kindergarten which was called Little Angels Academy and that is a precious memory that will live on. She was most recently a member of Church H20 (formerly Forestdale Freewill Baptist). Carolyn loved traveling to the beach and cruising with her husband. She baked Christmas cookies with her grandchildren, always planning a “bake day” with them. She loved cooking with them and was quick to make them and her children special treats even for no special occasion. She was famous for her chicken salad and peanut brittle. Her home was always open to anyone needing a helping hand, a meal or a place to stay. Carolyn was always there for a fun day with the kids and grandkids, as well. She was just there for whatever was needed. She will be missed and there will be no replacement for her on this earth. Her family will be looking for the day they see her again. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Walker Chapel Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home with burial to follow at Forest Crest Cemetery in Irondale, AL.
