William Dean McConnell

With broken hearts we have to say goodbye from this earth to William Dean McConnell who passed away on Saturday, October 14th, 2017 at his home surrounded by family and friends after a long battle with cancer. Born on June 13th, 1942, he was the best father and friend and will be deeply missed. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandbabies.

 Mr. McConnell was preceded in death by his father and mother; Felton Hutto and Nicie Ann McConnell, brothers; Lynn and Howard McConnell, sisters; Teresa McConnell and Carolyn Webb, nephews; Jarrod McConnell and Seth Webb.

He is survived by two daughters; Kathy Townsel and Deana (Scott) Foster and best friend who was like a son; Jeffrey (Joyce) Polston, grandchildren; Brandi, William, and Stephen Townsel, Tara (Casey) Russell and Tabitha Foster (Josh Stockton), great grandbabies; Devon, Dakota, Makayla and McKenna Greenway and Madelyn Foster, brothers; Joe (Alma) McConnell and John McConnell, sisters; Reba White and Dianne Moon, as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be: Scott Foster, Jeffrey Polston, William Townsel, Stephen Townsel, Johnathon May, and John McConnell.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 17th, 2017 from 12:00 until 1:00 p.m. with funeral services following at 1:00 in the Chapel at Walker Chapel Funeral Home in Fultondale. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society
